Suspect Arrested in Zürichberg Hotel Robbery

Zürich City Police have apprehended an 18-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery at a hotel near the zoo district last week.

Zürich City Police have arrested a suspect in connection with last week's armed robbery at the Sorell Hotel Zürichberg. According to a statement released by the force, investigators traced the incident to an 18-year-old Algerian national residing in the canton of Zürich, who was taken into custody on 23 April. The case has now been referred to the public prosecutor's office.

The incident took place on 20 April, when a man entered the hotel and threatened staff with a bladed weapon, demanding cash. He fled the scene with several hundred Swiss francs. No injuries were reported.

The arrest came roughly three days after the robbery, following investigative work by city police detectives that led them to identify the suspect.
