ZVV Introduces Night Service on S-Bahn Lines From September
A long-requested improvement to the city's public transport network will arrive this autumn, benefiting shift workers and late-night travellers alike.
The Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) has confirmed that hourly S-Bahn services on lines S2, S8, and S14 will operate through the night on Fridays and Saturdays from 13 September 2026, in a pilot programme running until March 2027.
The decision follows a public consultation in which over 14,000 respondents — a record for a ZVV survey — expressed support for the measure. Night tram and bus services will be adjusted to complement rather than duplicate the new S-Bahn coverage.
